This pattern is named for Grace O'Malley who, following in the footsteps of her father, was lord of the O'Malley dynasty in the west of Ireland. Grace was well educated, very rare for that time in Ireland for a woman, and she met with Queen Elizabeth I at her court to petition for the release of her sons and half brother who were captured by the English governor of Connacht.
She was the original girl boss and this pattern celebrates her femininity, intelligence and strength.
